(I’ve been thinking a lot about whether to include these women’s stories or not and I’ve decided not to. Basically b/c of what I said tonight when explaining this idea… I said that I know what I am proud of myself for, what I go to bed happy I accomplished that day, I know what makes me an individual, etc. And that should be enough. It should be enough to love yourself on the inside. Or at least be trying to love yourself on the inside. But it’s just not. Because I look in the mirror everyday and never think I look pretty. Ever. And I know I’m not alone. But I also know that’s not what everyone else sees. And if we can help teach each other to see what others see… well… how incredible would that be? So it’s not about WHO WE ARE… even though that’s what it SHOULD be about… this blog is just about what we look like. And telling each other what WE see. So from here on out (unless I break my own rule someday!) there will be no words. Just a photo. And a name. A name we get to spend one whole day building up. Praying for if we’re so inclined. Thinking about. I really hope this can be powerful. And I think it will.)

I can’t imagine a better way to start this blog then by posting this photo. The first one that was submitted.

This is Mary Jane and Pat. They’ve been best friends for almost 30 years.

(The photo is small but it’s the size it was submitted. Once we get the new look completed we will let you know the exact size photo we’ll need for submissions. So for now please forgive the fact that things will be a bit wonky.)

Ok ladies… I think these two are beautiful, but since MJ is my MOM and Pat is nearly my second mom it’s no wonder! But let’s raise them up!

What YOU see is different from what WE see and this blog is here to prove it!

Spurred on by THIS post on our photography blog, we have decided to make changing the perception of ourselves official. The goal of this blog is to tell each other what WE see. The beauty WE see in YOU. Every day we will post a photo of a woman. Someone we know or don’t know. And then we ask you to leave a comment to tell that woman what YOU see in them. What do YOU think is beautiful about them that they may have missed?

To make this blog work, we need your help! Please send us images of the women in your life to jodie@freshartphotography.com. We will post EVERY SINGLE IMAGE we receive. If there is a story to go with your image let us know, otherwise we will just post her photo. Please give us her name, just her first name, and if that’s all the info we receive on her that’s fine. But let her know she’s been posted. Let her read about how truly beautiful she is. Let her see what she’s been missing.
